In a global reality made of online pictures, what do words still mean? Do their meaning gets altered on the internet? This project is a new media surrealism art research in the realm of words and images. Each word is matched with its respective picture online searched using Google Image Search. This poetry it was lyrically written by me and “painted” by Google Image Search algorithm with pictures. The image results on Google and other search engine platforms depend on many factors. It depends by where you are logged in from, by your browsing history, just to mention a couple of influent factors. This means that all of us would get a different visual poem, all of us would get a personal version of this work. As much as we would give a different interpretation of the words, a different meaning, different associations of words and thoughts based on our history and culture, as well it will do our online tools, based not on feelings and background but on our internet "experience". This is a visual poetry project but also it brings up a lot of questions about neutrality, privacy, custom internet and bias.
Think outside the ghost town!
Unfortunately since NewHive is not available anymore and because this project was hosted on their platform this is the only visual record available. Hopefully when NewHive will be back online this project will be back too.
The visual poem reads these words:
Humble Beginnings
Teenage dreams are humble beginnings.
Decision time!
Nonsensical hope of life.
Ding - Dong,
Just a couple of words.
Great week on the devil's highway.
The pain barrier takes care of devalued concepts,
But does it matter?
Lost years of eyes dancing with invisible friends.
