Is #contemporaryart just a bubble? I remember watching a documentary ages ago trying to discover the mesmerizing and obscure world of #contemporaryartcollectors and even after many years the bubble seems like it's not going to blast any time soon. Actually, yesterday with a striking sale at Christie's an edition of Jeff Koons's Rabbit, the third one available, fetched a huge score and sold for a striking 91millions$, record price for a #livingartist and everyone went mad about it. In many years, and having a short experience working in the #artmarket, I have learnt that #artcollection is not just about #art but it's also about something else too. It has to do with financial speculation, with egocentrism and also about art taste. There are new markets rising for #artcollectors as India, Cina, Middle East, trying to compete with the western financial capital world and #artauctions are also about establishing these dynamics of power between competitors, private and national. Don't look at the results of #artauction as the true value of an #artpiece because that's not how art is valued. That's just about how art is priced at. That's just about how much art is sold and how much someone is willing to pay according to their strategies, possibilities and ambition. What's the real value of art? And what value means in the context of art?
