Working with digital media in the web scenario, digital artists have many things in common with street artist. A Facebook wall, a tweet, a pin on a Pinterest board can be compared to placing either posters or stickers on street walls. If we start to perceive social network as type/form of ecosystems and not just mere tools of communication and entertainment, digital artists posting their videos, gifs and still image works around the web can be interpreted as the street artists of the digital space.

I personally really like this metaphor.
